This bill amends the Poultry Technician Licensure Law to expand the Secretary of Agriculture's authority to license certified poultry technicians to perform regulatory sampling, testing, and on-site surveillance for dangerous poultry diseases, rather than just drawing blood for pullorum testing. The bill allows the Secretary to establish licensing and certification standards, and to provide training in Spanish. It also increases the license and renewal fees from $5 to $10, and removes the citizenship requirement for applicants. Additionally, the bill gives the Secretary broader authority to adopt rules, quarantine orders, and regulations governing technician activities, and to suspend or revoke licenses for various reasons.
