This bill, titled the "Judicial FOIA Expansion Act," amends Title 5 of the United States Code to create a right of public access to certain records relating to the federal judiciary, including the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Courts of Appeals, U.S. district courts, and other judicial entities that receive appropriated funds. The bill requires the disclosure of various types of information, such as attorney disciplinary proceedings, complaints and investigations against judges, Federal Judicial Conference records, and technical audits related to the PACER court records system. However, the bill exempts certain information, such as records related to ongoing cases. The bill also requires that any information published or provided by the courts be machine-readable, and it authorizes $10 million in funding for the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts to create an office to facilitate compliance with the new requirements.
