This bill mandates domestic violence and sexual assault awareness education for students enrolled in cosmetology schools and post-secondary institutions in Massachusetts. It requires schools to include at least 1 hour of approved training on these topics. The bill also establishes a legal protection for licensees, students, and their employers who have completed the training and act in good faith based on information obtained during their cosmetology practice or enrollment. Additionally, it directs the Board of Registration of Cosmetology and Barbering to make available a sample sign on human trafficking awareness to be displayed in cosmetology shops, schools, and mobile businesses.
