This bill directs the Department of Health's Office of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Advisory Board to conduct a comprehensive examination of eligibility requirements for emergency medical personnel (both professional and volunteer) to join a professional program focused on addressing career fatigue and wellness. The Board will specifically investigate the costs associated with participating in such a program and develop recommendations for how these costs might be paid. The Board is required to consult with representatives from the Medical Society of Virginia and other relevant stakeholders during their review. By October 1, 2024, the Board must submit a detailed report of their findings and recommendations to the Chairmen of the House Committee on Health, Welfare and Institutions and the Senate Committee on Education and Health. The goal of this bill appears to be improving support and addressing potential burnout among emergency medical personnel by creating a structured approach to understanding and potentially implementing a wellness program.
