This bill amends Titles 2 (Administrative Law and Procedure) and 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to further provide for confidential communications to journalists. The key changes include: 1) expanding the definition of "journalist" to include individuals who gather, prepare, or publish news or information in a professional, nonprofessional, or freelance manner; 2) replacing the term "news reporters" with "journalists"; and 3) adding an exception to the confidentiality provision if a court determines that disclosure of the protected information or source is reasonably likely to prevent an imminent act of violence, bodily harm, or death. The bill also makes some editorial changes.
