This bill, the Kangaroo Protection Act of 2024, prohibits certain activities involving kangaroos and kangaroo products. It defines "kangaroo" as specific species of large marsupials and "kangaroo product" as any item composed in whole or in part of a kangaroo. The bill makes it unlawful to bring kangaroos into the United States for commercial purposes, possess them with intent to sell, or sell them. It also prohibits the introduction, sale, trade, advertisement, transport, or distribution of kangaroo products in interstate commerce. Violators can face fines up to $10,000 and/or up to 1 year of imprisonment. The bill directs the Secretary of Commerce, in consultation with other agencies, to issue regulations to implement the law, which will take effect 180 days after enactment.
