This bill amends the Revised Judicature Act of 1961 to require the State Court Administrative Office, under the direction of the Supreme Court, to provide training to relevant court personnel, such as judges, guardians ad litem, and custody evaluators, on recognizing domestic violence and child abuse in custody proceedings and making appropriate custody decisions that prioritize the child's safety and well-being. The training must cover topics like child sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, coercive control, implicit and explicit bias, trauma, and the impact of domestic violence and child abuse on children. The training must be evidence-based and provided by professionals with substantial experience assisting survivors of domestic violence or child abuse. The bill requires an initial 20-hour training and 15-hour refresher training every 5 years.
