This bill authorizes certain federal law enforcement officers to make arrests for violations of State law constituting crimes of the first, second, or third degree. Under current law, certain federal law enforcement officers are authorized to act as an officer for the arrest of offenders against the laws of this State where the person reasonably believes that a crime of the first, second, or third degree is or is about to be committed or attempted in the person's presence. This bill expands the list of federal law enforcement officers to include Naval Criminal Investigative Service special agents; Department of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations special agents; Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division special agents; Coast Guard Investigative Service special agents, and Department of Defense Office of Inspector General Defense Criminal Investigative Service special agents.
