This bill, the White Oak Resilience Act of 2024, directs the Secretary of Agriculture and the Secretary of the Interior to carry out activities to provide for white oak restoration. The key provisions of the bill include establishing a White Oak Restoration Initiative Coalition to coordinate public, state, local, private, and nongovernmental restoration efforts; creating Forest Service and Department of the Interior pilot projects to restore white oak in national forests and on other federal lands; establishing a White Oak and Upland Oak Habitat Regeneration Program to support white oak restoration and conservation; developing a national strategy to increase the capacity of nurseries to address shortages of white oak tree seedlings; and directing research on white oak genes, reforestation, and other topics through partnerships with land-grant colleges and universities.
