This bill amends the Medical Practice Act of 1985 to provide a definition for "genetic test" and update the scope of practice for genetic counselors. Specifically, it expands the definition of "genetic test" to include various types of genetic analyses, and clarifies that genetic counselors can identify, order, and coordinate genetic tests, as well as provide written documentation of medical, genetic, and counseling information for clients and other healthcare professionals. The bill also clarifies that genetic counselors cannot diagnose, manage, or treat any genetic or other disease or condition.
