This bill amends the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to further provide for alimony pendente lite, counsel fees, and expenses. Specifically, it adds a provision that a party who has been convicted of committing a personal injury crime against the other party shall not be entitled to spousal support or alimony pendente lite, except where the court finds that an order is necessary to prevent manifest injustice. The court is required to review whether there is a history of harassment or a history of any protection from abuse order against a party in determining whether manifest injustice exists. The amendment applies to proceedings commenced on or after the effective date of the section, which is 60 days after the bill's enactment.
