This bill amends the insurance law and the social services law to require that dental insurance policies provide coverage for dental night guards, which are defined as protective devices for the mouth that cover the teeth and gums to prevent and reduce injury. The bill also adds dental night guards to the list of services covered under Medicaid when prescribed by a licensed dentist. The bill will take effect immediately and apply to policies and contracts issued, renewed, modified, altered, or amended on or after the effective date.
