This bill amends the Historic Landmark and Historic District Protection Act of 1978 to require the Historic Preservation Review Board to include Historic African American burial grounds in its inventory of historic landmarks and districts, as well as on city maps. It also requires the Mayor to include the preservation status of these burial grounds in existing annual reporting requirements to the Council. The bill defines "Historic African American burial ground" as a cemetery or other location where human remains of African Americans were deposited prior to 1955 and is owned by a public body or qualified charitable organization.
