This bill establishes the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Treatment Assistance Program within the Aging and Disability Services Division of the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services. The program will serve children diagnosed with FASD through the age of 13 and will be administered by the existing Autism Treatment Assistance Program. The bill authorizes the program to perform several key functions, including creating an application process for parents and guardians, developing individualized treatment plans, promoting evidence-based and cost-effective treatments, educating families about FASD and treatment options, establishing an assessment system to track progress, and helping families access available public services for FASD treatment. Importantly, the program will operate to the extent that funding is available, and it will use standardized assessments to identify and support children with FASD. The bill builds upon a previous pilot program established in the 2023 legislative session and aims to provide comprehensive support for children affected by fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. The program will become effective immediately upon passage and approval.
