This bill removes the prospective expiration of the Office of Small Business Advocacy within the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, effectively making the office a permanent part of state government. Currently existing under Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 224.160, the Office of Small Business Advocacy is responsible for several key functions, including providing information to small businesses and the public, coordinating with state agencies and local governments to facilitate interactions with small businesses, attempting to resolve small business complaints, and helping small businesses understand their legal rights and responsibilities. Prior to this bill, the office was set to automatically expire on June 30, 2025, but this legislation eliminates that sunset provision, ensuring the continued operation of the office. The bill will become effective immediately upon passage and approval, allowing the Office of Small Business Advocacy to continue its support of small businesses in Nevada without the previous time limitation.
