This bill adds a new section to the Texas Election Code that requires political committees to include specific disclosures when publishing, distributing, or broadcasting political advertising that supports a slate of five or more candidates who have made contributions to that political committee. The required disclosure must include the full names of all supported candidates, a statement that those candidates contributed to the committee for the purpose of obtaining support, and (if applicable) the names of any candidates who created the political committee. If a political committee fails to provide these required disclosures, they can be held liable for a civil penalty of up to $4,000, which will be determined by the election commission. The new requirements will only apply to political advertising published on or after the bill's effective date of September 1, 2025, and are designed to increase transparency in political advertising by revealing the financial relationships between political committees and the candidates they support.
