This bill expands and clarifies school transfer rights for children of certain public servants in Texas. The bill defines "parent" to include anyone standing in a parental relationship to a student and specifies that school districts must transfer a student to a campus or district of the parent's choosing upon request. The provisions will apply beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, and the bill will take effect either immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote in the Texas Legislature or on September 1, 2025, if it does not receive the necessary immediate vote.
