This bill creates the Medicaid Health Care Workforce Account, a new fund within the State General Fund designed to support healthcare workforce expansion in Nevada. The Account will be administered by the Administrator of the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy and can be used to pay administrative costs and support various healthcare workforce development projects eligible for federal Medicaid funding. These projects may include graduate medical education programs, medical education indirect cost payments, healthcare provider fellowship and apprenticeship programs, and student education loan repayment assistance for healthcare providers. The Account can receive gifts, donations, and grants, and any money in the Account will not revert to the State General Fund at the end of the fiscal year but instead will be carried forward. The bill also amends existing law to include the new Account within the Department of Health and Human Services' administrative responsibilities. The provisions of this bill will become effective on July 1, 2025, providing a clear timeline for implementation of the new Medicaid Health Care Workforce Account.
