This bill directs the Texas Animal Health Commission to create a public awareness campaign focused on preventing animal cruelty. The campaign will include establishing a dedicated website that provides information on what to do with abandoned animals, how to get medical help for animals in distress, and details about animal cruelty laws. For the purposes of this bill, "animal" is broadly defined to include livestock, domestic and exotic fowl, domesticated creatures (including stray or feral cats and dogs), and previously captured wild animals. The commission will define animal cruelty based on specific sections of the Texas Penal Code and may solicit and accept gifts and grants to support the campaign. The campaign aims to educate the general public about animal cruelty issues and provide resources for helping animals in need. The bill will take effect on September 1, 2025.
