This bill amends Arkansas law to expand who can request sales and use tax reports from the Department of Finance and Administration. Currently, only the chief executive officers of counties, cities, and towns can request these quarterly reports listing businesses remitting sales and use taxes. The bill adds members of the General Assembly (state legislators) as an additional group who can request such reports. For chief executive officers, the report will cover businesses in their jurisdiction, while for legislators, the report can cover businesses they specify. The department is required to provide the requested information within 30 calendar days of receiving the request. This change increases legislative transparency by giving state representatives and senators more direct access to information about sales and use tax payments in specific areas or for specific businesses.
