This bill establishes the Youth Advisory Council on Climate Change and Environmental Conservation (Youth Climate Council) in the District of Columbia. The council's mission is to provide an organized youth perspective on various climate change and environmental issues, including impacts, mitigation, and adaptation strategies, as well as environmental education opportunities for youth. The council will have 17 voting members, with 9 appointed by the Mayor and 8 appointed by the Chairman of the Council, representing each of the 8 wards. The council will elect its own leadership, meet quarterly, and provide advisory recommendations to the Mayor, Council, and relevant government agencies. The Department of Energy and Environment will provide staff and equipment support for the council's activities.
