This bill amends sections 194, 195, and 198 of the Michigan Election Law to provide for and clarify the replacement of a candidate for county commissioner after the candidate's death. The key provisions are: (1) a candidate for county commissioner is not permitted to withdraw unless they move from the county or district they were nominated for, or become physically unfit; (2) if a county commissioner candidate dies before the election, the county executive committee of the candidate's political party can select a replacement candidate who must be a resident and registered elector of the same county commissioner district; and (3) the replacement candidate's name must be added to the ballots.
