AI Summary

This bill modifies Montana law regarding child abuse and neglect proceedings by requiring the Department of Public Health and Human Services to provide more comprehensive and up-to-date information in its affidavits when filing petitions. Specifically, the bill mandates that the department's affidavit must include verified, current information about the disposition of any criminal cases referenced in the document. The department is now obligated to obtain and include law enforcement reports involving adult parties named in the petition, and must disclose any information that might contradict or not support the allegations of abuse or neglect. The bill also requires the department to include attachments such as law enforcement reports and investigative materials, and court records indicating the final disposition of any criminal cases related to the abuse or neglect allegation. These changes aim to ensure that courts have a more complete and accurate picture of the circumstances surrounding child abuse and neglect cases, potentially improving the transparency and fairness of the legal proceedings.
