This bill revises the supervision requirements for physical therapist assistants (PTAs) in Montana by modifying the frequency of patient visits that a licensed physical therapist must make when overseeing a PTA. Currently, a physical therapist must visit a patient either once every six visits or once every two weeks, whichever comes first. The bill changes this requirement to once every eight visits or once every 30 days, whichever occurs first. The bill maintains other existing supervision rules, such as limiting a physical therapist to supervising no more than two full-time assistants simultaneously. This change potentially gives physical therapists more flexibility in managing their patient care and supervision responsibilities, while still ensuring adequate oversight of physical therapist assistants. The bill will take effect immediately upon passage and approval, and it specifically amends section 37-11-105 of the Montana Code Annotated (MCA).
