This bill establishes a new Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Grant program for students who are recipients of the Access Missouri Financial Assistance Program. The grant provides up to $1,500 per year to students pursuing STEM degrees at approved Missouri institutions, with a maximum total award of $6,000. To be eligible, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5, continue to meet Access Missouri financial assistance program criteria, and not exceed five semesters at a two-year institution or ten semesters at a four-year institution. STEM fields include agriculture, computer science, engineering, biological sciences, mathematics, and related disciplines. The grant is available to both initial and renewal recipients, with eligibility ending once a student has completed a baccalaureate degree or reached 150 semester hours or equivalent. The program is set to automatically sunset after six years unless reauthorized by the Missouri General Assembly, providing a temporary mechanism to support students pursuing critical technical and scientific fields of study.
