This bill expands the Wyoming National Guard Member Referral Incentive Program by broadening the range of individuals who can participate in and benefit from the referral process. Currently, only active Wyoming National Guard members can refer potential recruits, but the bill now allows retired military service members, current military department employees, and recruits beginning the enlistment process to also make referrals. The bill defines a "retired military service member" as someone who has retired from the armed forces, Army National Guard, or Air National Guard. When a successful referral leads to a new recruit joining the Wyoming National Guard, the referring individual may receive a referral bonus, with a new provision stating that recruits can only receive their bonus after they have officially become a member of the Wyoming National Guard. The purpose of the program remains to incentivize peer-to-peer recruiting and maximize recruitment efforts for the Wyoming National Guard. The bill will become effective on July 1, 2025.
