This bill amends South Carolina law regarding the collection of data during motor vehicle stops by law enforcement. The Department of Public Safety will be responsible for designing the form, developing an electronic database to store the collected information, and establishing rules for data collection and submission. Additionally, the bill updates the review process, requiring the Senate Transportation Committee and House Education and Public Works Committee to review the data biennially beginning in 2025. During these reviews, the committees will conduct hearings, consider the collected data, take testimony, and potentially recommend changes to the existing law. The bill will take effect upon approval by the Governor.
