This bill amends South Carolina's state park fee structure to provide discounts for certain military-affiliated individuals, specifically members of the South Carolina National Guard, members and retirees of the United States Armed Forces who are South Carolina residents, members of the Reserves who are South Carolina residents, and veterans who are South Carolina residents. These groups will now be eligible to receive the same campsite rental fee discounts currently afforded to other South Carolina residents under Section 51-3-60, which guarantees a minimum discount of 35%. The bill maintains the existing requirement that the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism preserve fee structure adjustments originally implemented in 2003 to ensure the fiscal soundness and continued maintenance of the State Park System. The legislation will take effect immediately upon receiving the Governor's approval, expanding access to discounted state park camping for military-connected individuals who are residents of South Carolina.
