This bill establishes a full-time dementia services coordinator position within the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services' Division of Senior and Disability Services. The coordinator will have broad responsibilities to improve services and support for individuals with dementia, including evaluating and coordinating dementia-related services across the state. Specifically, the coordinator will use dementia-related data to improve public health outcomes, establish relationships with agencies and providers to prevent service duplication, support dementia-specific staff training across state agencies, and recommend strategies to improve service coordination. Additional duties include streamlining government services, identifying grant opportunities to expand dementia services, promoting public awareness and education about dementia, collecting and monitoring dementia impact data, and developing policies to enhance the quality of life for people with dementia and their caregivers. The goal is to create a centralized, strategic approach to addressing the needs of Missourians affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
