This bill amends the Texas Education Code to expand exemptions from diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) requirements for scholarly research at public higher education institutions. Specifically, the bill clarifies that DEI restrictions do not apply to scholarly research, including research funded by federal grants or other sources, and expands the definition of who can conduct such research to include postdoctoral fellows and research staff in addition to existing categories like students and faculty. The exemption covers both the research itself and its subsequent dissemination.
