This bill, concerning pet insurance, amends existing law to prohibit pet insurers from canceling or refusing to renew a policy based on the pet's age, the development of chronic, orthopedic, congenital, or hereditary conditions during the policy period, or the detection of a preexisting condition. It also clarifies that if a pet insurer moves a policyholder to an affiliated company, the new company must honor the existing policy terms until expiration, cannot impose a waiting period, require a veterinary examination for issuance or renewal, or cancel or refuse to renew the policy for the reasons listed above.
