This resolution honors and congratulates the Sevier County High School football team for winning the 2024 Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Division I, Class 5A State Football Championship. The Smoky Bears achieved an impressive undefeated 15-0 season, defeating opponents like Knoxville Central, Powell, and Page High School in the BlueCross Bowl championship game at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga. Led by Head Coach Todd Loveday, the team secured its second state championship in school history, marking a significant milestone in the 100th year of Smoky Bears football. The resolution highlights the team's exceptional qualities, including hard work, dedication, teamwork, and outstanding character both on and off the football field. The General Assembly commends the players, coaching staff, support staff, administrators, cheerleaders, and fans for their remarkable achievement and for representing the high quality of Tennessee's youth.
