This bill amends Delaware state law to remove specific enrollment and admissions restrictions previously placed on Sussex County Vocational Technical High School. Specifically, the bill eliminates the previously mandated student enrollment caps that incrementally increased from 1,300 to 1,450 students between school years 2021-2022 and 2024-2025. It also removes provisions that governed the school's student lottery admission process, including limitations on the number of students admitted from individual school districts, preferences for sibling and staff children admissions, and restrictions on denying students based on academic performance. Additionally, the bill removes a previous requirement that limited the school's ability to remove students for disciplinary reasons without parental consent. These changes effectively grant Sussex County Vocational Technical High School the same operational flexibility enjoyed by other vocational-technical schools in Delaware, such as Polytech in Kent County and the New Castle Vo-Tech school. The bill also adjusts the maximum tax levy rate for the school district, setting it at 29.50 cents per $100 of real property value for tax year 2024 and subsequent years.
