This bill requires all school districts in Missouri to observe Black History Month by mandating that every public school conduct educational programs and activities dedicated to honoring the experiences of Black Americans during February. Specifically, each school must devote at least one class period to exploring the struggles and achievements of Black Americans throughout United States history. School boards will be responsible for working with school administrators to design and implement appropriate educational programs that meet this requirement. The bill amends Chapter 170 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri by adding a new section (170.375) that outlines these obligations, with the goal of ensuring students learn about and recognize the significant contributions and historical experiences of Black Americans in the United States.
