This bill, the Pay Our Military Act of 2024, provides continuing appropriations to ensure members of the U.S. Armed Forces, including reserve components, as well as certain civilian personnel and contractors supporting them, continue to receive pay and allowances in the event of a government shutdown. The bill defines the "Secretary concerned" as the Secretary of Defense for matters concerning the Department of Defense, and the Secretary of Homeland Security for matters concerning the Coast Guard. The appropriations and authority granted by this Act will remain available until an appropriation law is enacted, the applicable appropriations resolution is passed, or January 1, 2026, whichever occurs first.
