This means townships will now receive funding in direct relation to their road infrastructure, with the road miles being determined by certifications provided to the state treasurer. The bill also removes a previous provision that disqualified townships from receiving funds if they did not maintain any township roads. Each organized township will continue to receive its allocation directly from the county treasurer, while funds for unorganized townships will be credited to a special road fund. This change aims to create a more equitable distribution of infrastructure funds that reflects the actual road maintenance needs of different townships.
