This bill modifies Maryland's local government laws to require municipalities that have annexed property to send a copy of their annexation resolution to the Department of Planning, in addition to existing notification requirements. Specifically, when a municipality annexes new land, its chief executive must now send the annexation resolution with updated boundaries to several entities, including the municipal clerk, county court clerk, Department of Legislative Services, Department of Planning (newly added), and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (if the municipality is in the regional district). The resolution must be sent within 10 days after it takes effect, and each receiving official or agency must keep the resolution on record and make it available for public inspection during regular business hours. The bill will take effect on October 1, 2025, and aims to ensure more comprehensive documentation and transparency in municipal boundary changes by adding the Department of Planning to the list of notified entities.
