This bill updates numerous references throughout Maryland state law to reflect the renaming of two legislative committees: the Senate Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee is now called the Senate Education, Energy, and the Environment Committee, and the House Environmental Matters Committee is now called the House Environment and Transportation Committee. The bill systematically changes committee names across multiple articles of Maryland law, including Agriculture, Business Regulation, Economic Development, Education, Election Law, Environment, Family Law, Health, Housing and Community Development, Labor and Employment, Natural Resources, Public Safety, Public Utilities, State Finance and Procurement, State Government, and Transportation. These changes are purely technical and do not alter the substance of the laws, but ensure that committee names in existing statutes are current and accurate. The bill will take effect on October 1, 2025, and directs the publisher of the Annotated Code of Maryland to make necessary cross-reference and terminology corrections with no further action required by the General Assembly.
