Bill Summary
AN ACT to amend the elder law, in relation to reporting unmet need for programs and services for the aging
AI Summary
This bill amends the elder law to require the state's office on aging to collect and report on "unmet need" for aging-related programs and services. Specifically, unmet need is defined as the number of eligible individuals who want to participate in a particular program or service but cannot due to insufficient resources or capacity. The office must gather this information from each area agency on aging and compile a comprehensive report detailing the unmet need for each program and service across the state. This report must be submitted annually to the Speaker of the Assembly and the Temporary President of the Senate by December 31st each year. The goal of this reporting requirement appears to be improving understanding of gaps in service delivery for aging populations and potentially informing future resource allocation decisions. The bill takes effect immediately upon passage.
