This bill amends Tennessee county government law to establish a new procedure for removing appointed board or commission members. Specifically, a county legislative body can now remove an appointed member through a two-thirds vote, but only if the removal is first recommended by the appointing authority and the board/commission member receives at least five business days' notice before the removal vote. The bill includes two important exceptions: it does not apply to counties that already have existing charter provisions for board/commission member removal, and it does not apply to appointments to fill vacancies in the state general assembly.
