This bill addresses campaign finance disclosure requirements for limited liability companies (LLCs) by introducing new rules for allocating and reporting political contributions. The legislation modifies existing law to specify that when an LLC makes a political contribution, the contribution will be attributed to its individual members based on their percentage of ownership. For single-member LLCs, the entire contribution is attributed to that single member. In cases where an LLC member is itself another LLC, the contribution will be further allocated among that LLC's members proportionally. If a member is a corporation, the contribution is attributed to the corporation. The bill requires LLCs to provide detailed information to contribution recipients, including the names, addresses, and contribution amounts for all members and sub-members. This approach aims to increase transparency in political donations and ensure that individual members do not exceed established contribution limits by using the LLC as a vehicle for making larger contributions. The new rules will take effect 60 days after the bill's passage, applying to both domestic and foreign limited liability companies operating in the jurisdiction.
