This bill establishes a pilot program for the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) to provide funding to local educational agencies during fiscal year 2025 to help 12th-grade students learn about voter registration. Under the program, schools must apply to the EAC by submitting a detailed plan describing their proposed voter education initiatives, estimated costs, and other required information. Applicant schools must also consult with local and state election officials when developing their programs. To participate, schools must meet the definitions of "local educational agency" and "secondary school" as defined in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. After implementing their initiatives, each participating school will be required to submit a report to the EAC within 90 days detailing the program's activities and effectiveness. The EAC will then have 60 days to submit a comprehensive report to Congress about the pilot program's outcomes. The bill authorizes Congress to appropriate the necessary funds to implement these voter registration information efforts, with the ultimate goal of increasing voter engagement among young people approaching voting age.
