This bill modifies the existing voter checklist verification process in New Hampshire by changing the verification frequency from every 10 years to annually, starting in 2026. The bill requires election supervisors to conduct annual verification sessions between April 1 and August 1, during which they will post notices on the town or city's website and in local newspapers. During these sessions, voters can register or reregister, and the supervisors will review the checklist to remove names of individuals who have not registered or reregistered. A person will be considered automatically reregistered if they have voted in an election within the preceding years or have been added to the checklist since the last state general election. The supervisors must send a notice to individuals before removing their names from the checklist, giving them at least 30 days to respond and maintain their voter registration. After completing the verification process, the supervisors must file a certificate with the secretary of state by September 1, confirming they have verified the voter checklist. The changes will take effect on January 1, 2026, transitioning the state from a decadal to an annual voter roll verification system.
