AI Summary
This bill allows school boards in Virginia to create partnerships with private nonprofit higher education institutions to expand industry and trade education opportunities for high school students. These partnerships can include establishing dual enrollment programs where students can simultaneously earn high school and college credits, gaining undergraduate course credits, industry-recognized credentials, career certificates, or preparing for state licensure exams. School boards must submit a detailed plan to the Board of Education for approval, which includes describing the proposed educational experiences, transportation arrangements, shared resources, instructional personnel qualifications, how courses integrate with existing educational standards, alignment with current industry demands, implementation timelines, and associated costs. The Board of Education is required to develop guidelines for submitting, approving, and implementing these partnerships. The primary goal is to provide high school students with more hands-on, practical educational experiences in industry and trade fields through innovative collaborations between school districts and private higher education institutions, offering students more diverse pathways to future career and educational opportunities.
