For individuals under 18, the option of a proctored examination remains available. The current requirement of passing with at least 80 percent remains in place, and the bill requires the Department of Safety to adopt implementing rules within 60 days of the act's passage. The changes to the safe boater education certification process will take effect on January 1, 2026, providing ample time for implementation and public awareness.
