This bill establishes a working group and a new autonomous office designed to uncover and address fraud and waste in state government. This new office will have the authority to review how taxpayer dollars are used in nonprofit programs across the state, examine state government facility usage, and identify potential areas of concern. If serious fraud is uncovered, the office can refer cases to appropriate agencies for criminal prosecution. The overall goal is to enhance government efficiency, protect taxpayer resources, and ensure more responsible use of public funds.
