This bill amends the cannabis law to require the Cannabis Office (in consultation with the Office of Addiction Services and Supports and the Office of Mental Health) to develop and implement a comprehensive education campaign specifically focused on the dangers of cannabinoid use. The bill expands upon an existing public health and education campaign that previously addressed cannabis legalization and its potential impacts on public health and safety. In addition to highlighting the risks of cannabinoid use, the campaign will continue to provide general education to the public about cannabis regulations, including warnings about the risks of purchasing cannabis products from unlicensed or unauthorized sellers. The bill aims to increase public awareness about the potential health hazards associated with cannabinoid consumption and ensure that New York residents are informed about safe and legal cannabis practices. The legislation is set to take effect immediately upon enactment.
