This bill establishes a new special group recognition license plate for the Epilepsy Foundation in Indiana. The bill amends existing vehicle registration law to add the epilepsy foundation trust license plate to the list of available specialty plates and creates a new chapter detailing the plate's specifics. Drivers who are eligible to register a vehicle can obtain these plates by completing an application and paying additional fees, which include a $15 supplemental fee and an annual fee of up to $25. These fees will be deposited into a newly created epilepsy foundation trust fund. The treasurer of state will invest the fund's money, with any interest earned being returned to the fund. The Bureau of Motor Vehicles will administer the fund and distribute the money at least monthly to the Epilepsy Foundation Indiana. Importantly, any money remaining in the fund at the end of the fiscal year will not revert to the state's general fund but will remain available for the foundation's use. The new license plates will feature a basic design with identifying numbers or letters and a background or emblem that clearly identifies them as epilepsy foundation trust license plates, effective July 1, 2025.
