This bill establishes a task force on adverse experiences and trauma prevention, comprised of 11 members appointed by various state departments and legislative leaders, to comprehensively study and address the impacts of different types of traumatic experiences. The task force will include representatives from areas such as juvenile justice, social services, public health, and childhood development, and will focus on examining diverse forms of trauma including community violence, systemic racism, climate-related trauma, technological trauma, intergenerational trauma, and complex trauma. Members will serve without compensation but receive reimbursement for expenses, and their primary objectives include developing a deep understanding of adverse experiences' lifelong impacts, creating trauma-informed policies across social services, education, health, and criminal justice systems, and identifying social determinants of health to eliminate racial and ethnic disparities. The task force will have access to state agency resources and will be required to submit a comprehensive report of their findings, conclusions, and recommendations to multiple state legislative and executive leaders within two years of the act's effective date, with the ultimate goal of preventing adverse childhood experiences and supporting family well-being.
