This bill extends and enhances the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's (MTA) on-demand E-hail paratransit pilot program, which allows Access-A-Ride users to request immediate transportation through a smartphone app or phone service. The bill specifically requires the MTA to continue operating the pilot program through March 31, 2027, and mandates an expansion of the program to include an additional 1,200 users by March 16, 2026. When selecting these new users, the MTA must aim to create a representative sample that considers factors like age, disability, geographic distribution in New York City, and frequency of existing paratransit service usage. The bill stipulates that fares for the E-hail paratransit service will be equivalent to the MTA's base bus and subway fares, and service hours will match those of other MTA transportation services.
